When this Haven group left, there were tears, new friendships; there was transformation, fierce self-expression, and most of all community.  We need community, especially in our creative pursuits.  I want you to look at these pictures.  I want you to imagine giving yourself your dreams, despite what your inner critic says, or your friends and family for that matter.  Take a stand for what you believe in.  What you want.  What you want to create!  And if that sparks a desire to come to Haven…DO IT FOR YOURSELF!  In the minute of the spark…is the flame.  Come burn.  yrs. Here’s what a few of my last retreaters wrote about their Haven experience.

Yes

It could happen any time, tornado, earthquake, Armageddon. It could happen. Or sunshine, love, salvation.

It could you know. That’s why we wake and look out–no guarantees in this life.

But some bonuses, like morning, like right now, like noon, like evening.

(with thanks to Lorrie…and all the  Haven brave and beautiful souls.  Thank you for your enormous YES!)  This is for you.

One Response to Haven August 2013

When I turn the page on my calendar it will be marked with a reminder of a very special one year anniversary. The last week in September 2012 was when I traveled to Montana for my Haven experience. I believed that I was going to learn about the craft of writing, which I did, but I garnered so much more. I found that emotional mountains can be moved by compassionate souls, that long lasting bonds can be formed within minutes and that truly significant growth comes from a place of discomfort. By taking risks, stepping out of your comfort zone and sharing your thoughts and words within Haven’s nurturing and supportive environment you connect with your heart and more importantly with the hearts of others. Emotions were not the only thing flowing. Words, beautiful, thoughtful, lively, funny, heartbroken and joyous words broke through the dam and filled our days.

Each time another Haven group comes together my heart skips a few beats……a few of them are lost due to my yearning to be part of it all once again and the others are of joy, joy for each one of the retreaters who heard the call and embarked upon an unforgettable Haven journey.

    Hope to be back soon!
