This piece on NPR really spoke to me. Gladwell’s “10,000 hours rule” in his book Outliers: The Story of Success can indeed turn you into an overnight success, ten years in the making. Don’t give up! Yrs. Laura

I feel sure that I am at least half way to 10,000 hours. I wonder if I gave up sleep how long it would take me to get another 5000 hours? Must get out my calculator.
p.s. Loved that book.
Hey, Laura! I must temporarily unsubscribe to your terrific blog. I will be out of the country for 2-3 weeks on a trip of a lifetime with my husband. I will subscribe again upon my return. I can’t wait to get back to reading your blog. You are a gifted writer who is so open to possibilities! Thank you for allowing us readers to be a part of your life.
My women’s group is reading Gladwell’s book next month and it will be interesting to see what comes up in discussion. Even before the book I was aware of the 10 yr rule for accomplishing a certain level of mastery at pursuits like playing a musical instrument, programming computers and writing fiction.
It must feel good to be recognized for all of your years of hard work Laura.
When my motivation is flagging, this helps! Thank you for posting it!
